WHAT IS THIS?
i WAS AT AN OCEANFRONT HOUSE YESTERDAY IN DUCK,NC. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VENOMOUS SNAKE EXCEPT OVER BY THE SOUND HERE. IS THIS A COTTONMOUTH OR A COPPERHEAD. I CAN'T FIND A DISTINCTIVE PICTURE ONLINE OF ONE LIKE IT. I GUESS I NEED TO LOOK AROUND A LITTLE BETTER WHEN MEASURING HOUSES!!!
THANKS CASEY

With out seeing to head and eyes better I think it is a water snake but is hard to tell in that picture. The head does not look right for a Copperhead in this picture but I could be wrong. How agressive was it?
Little bigger picture...

it's an eastern hognose snake and they are not poisonous. Have seen a few of them around where i live in southeastern VA.

killing stuff cause it feels good
Although it is a bit on the small size for me, if I encountered that creature
it would be a BELT!!!

Crab mustard is good
That's the best little critter there is to keep mice and rats away. I say leave'em alone and let it do it's thing.

Team Canada Rocks!

THANKS, THATS WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS. BUT I WAS NOT SURE. HE WAS NOT TOO AGRESSIVE EVEN THOUGH I PESTERED HIM AND TRIED TO PROVOKE HIM A LITTLE. I DON'T LIKE TO KILL SNAKES, BUT I DON'T WANT TO STEP ON TEHM EITHER. I WAS TRYING TO GET HIM OFF THE DRIVEWAY I WAS ON. HE DID PUFF UP A LITTLE AND HAD A DIAMOND HEAD SO I WASN'T GETTING TOO CLOSE.
THANKS
CASEY
