With the tuna being out of reach of the little 23' boats, we decided to head out Saturday afternoon in search of Red Drum off Smith Island just N of the mouth of the Ches. Bay and Sunday looking for some flatties.
We had a full crew of energetic boys.
Seems the Dogfish are still feeding as reported by others working the early spring bite.

The little sharks were chewing our clams and crabs we had out well after the sun began to set. Before dark we had a Right Whale surface 75yds off our port side giving us a blow to get our attention in order to get a clear view of the amazing site. Would love to have had the camara on for that!
With the bait gone and no fish being landed by us or any of the boats around, we decided to head to the HRBT to fish for blues/belly meat for the Sunday Flounder trip. Birds were all resting on the rocks and no action on the blues so off to bed we go just before midnight.
We wake to a AM 10-15kt SW wind and head to the bait shop for a few minnows and tube skid. Super nice guy "GIVES" the boys a R/W Stretch 30, a Textured Stretch 15 and a PURPLE Flounder Rig before he sends us to the spot where they are "STACKED UP LIKE CORDS OF FIREWOOD". Load the boat with food, drinks and bait for the day and off to the Back River Reef hoping the winds don't continue as forecast. Not a bad ride making 30kts and line up our first drift with the duckblind as instructed and land our first 16" fish.
Had a great day with the under sized Flounder (min. 18 1/2") giving everyone plenty of chances to figure the difference from the bottom and a bite. End the day with over 15 going 15" - 17" all going back to the drink.
