    Weekend Hunt II

No fishing again this weekend so off to the stands we went!! We got a late start but were in the stands by 3:30 today. It had been raining here all day and what perfect timing it was. The rain stopped just as we entered the area we wanted to hunt. Put up in a stand near some oaks very close to a bedding area and my friend put up in a stand about 100yds away. Soon as we were settled in we did a little team calling, Jeff on the doe bleat and myself on the grunt. It wasn't 15 minutes I had this nice seven point come in to investigate. He gave me a clean 35yd shot with the bow and he never Knew what hit him as the 100 grain Muzzy burned right through the bead basket. He jumped and ran about 15yds then stopped. It was all over. We gave each other the thumbs up signal and stayed up and did a little more calling. Wouldn't you know it about 20 minutes after the seven hit the leaves a nine point gave Jeff a clean shot and the buck expired after about 50 yds!! Needless to say it was a exiting afternoon. One thing I didn't mention is that both deer were taken about 400 yds behind the house....Mark

First deer down was the seven:

Second deer down was the nine:

GREAT JOB FROM YOU AND JEFF ON THE TAG TEAM BLEAT AND GRUNT CALLING - WHAT AN EFFECTIVE GAME PLAN.....

THAT BEATS BEING BLOWN OUT FOR FISHING AND NOT FINDING SOMETHING TO DO FOR THE DAY ANYTIME...

TELL ME SOMETHING HERE THOUGH FOLKS......HOW CAN 28 PEOPLE LOOK AT A POST LIKE THIS AND ONLY ONE MAKES A COMMENT LIKE NICE JOB ON THE HUNT, THE STORY, THE PICS.....ETC....
ANYWAY JUST A THOUGHT THERE I GUESS.

THATS TWO NICE BUCK POSTS FOR YOU RECENTLY......I'D HAVE TO COMLIMENT YOU HERE AND SAY THAT YOU ARE QUITE A GREAT BOWHUNTER.
GREAT WORK AND A HEAK OF A OUTDOORS STORY HERE.........400 YARDS BEHIND THE HOUSE - THAT JUST MAKES IT ALL THE MORE INTERESTING.
    NICE JOB BRO!

Thanks Guys bow hunting is like going after those big YFTs!! I love trying to get close to shooter bucks with a bow. Don't get me wrong I started out gun hunting but once I shot my first buck with a bow it was on!! Its hard to explain but placing a stand just right on natural trails and food and then being close enough for the perfect shot is what it is all about. Still looking out for the monster I had seen before season. I know he is around but the wind has not been right to hunt him. Hopefully we will get a nice NE wind soon when I am off from work. The next three weeks will be the time!! Good luck to those that can make it out. I saw 4 does and fawns and a small 8point today. Just great enjoying what this country has to give us.........Mark
