Went out for some bottom bouncing Friday. Started by jigging some bait at the Schoolhouse which was alive with life. Bait everywhere getting crushed by jacks, albies, and who knows what else. Probably should have played with the jacks for a while, but decided to push on out to 30 miles. First stop and first bait puts a gag in the boat, then the anchor drags and we have trouble getting back on the spot. Current is ripping making it difficult to fish. Finally head to some other ledges that have been good to me in the past. Found some short gags and scamps but no keepers. Finally decide to make a major move to a new area and ran across a ledge on the way. After a few drifts we have our limit of gags. Went further offshore looking for reds but couldn't get anything to bite other than 2 citation lizardfish and a peanut mahi that we picked out of a school. Headed in and managed to stay dry until we were cleaning the last fish. Pretty day out there otherwise.
