    WB bottom bouncin' 4/23

After getting a real late start due to college classes we finally left the dock around 1 headed offshore for a little bit of grouper fishing. The seas and weather were absolutely beautiful and it made for a quick smooth ride in Robert's 21 contender. We got to the first spot at about 2 and got a king on the first drop with the jig. Not quite what we were looking for but it was a start. We got hooked up on the spot and started catching grouper right off the bat. We lost a couple of real nice fish at this spot and the bite shut off so time to move. We hit a couple more spots each one producing just as well. All in all we managed to put a nice gag, 11 reds, and one keeper scamp in the boat with at least double that number in 19 inch reds. Also caught a 16 pound king on the jig. I managed three keeper reds, lots of small scamps and one keeper, and 2 kings all on a medium action spinning trevala and a daiwa tierra 4000 with a 90 gram butterfly jig. I love big fish on light tackle. I can honestly say it does not get any better than a great day on the water with great friends, and to boot, we caught a lot of fish. Pictures to come...

Good job Chip and Robert! The young guns are talking over this fishery! Just as it should be.
In addition to fish photos, we also like "action" photos here. Anything noteworthy happening during the trip (like that shot of you bowed up on the big gag a few weeks back) snap it and post it.
Thanks for the report & please keep them coming.
