Headed off today in search of some new areas with big AJs and grouper on the mind. We were greeted with a conditions a little worse than forecasted but decided to push on anyways. We started the morning off with our first attempt at high speed trolling and got whacked right off the bat but only ended up with a chewed up lure. When we made it to the area it was time to start exploring so put out a spread of lures and immediately got into the blackfins. They were a bit on the small side so we moved on in search of bigger and better things until we founds some really good bottom in about 300 ft. We pulled in the trolling spread and jigs went over and we had a steady pick of nice scamps and big AJs. Its good to see the big boys are back. We ended the day with 10 nice scamps, 1 red, and three blackfins and other assorted bottom critters including a blackfin snapper which was a gorgeous critter. It was an awesome day on the water, life is good. Cheers!
