I enjoyed it as always, thanks Warren. The trumpetfish was certainly a unique surprise. Been hearing of quite a few bottom fishermen catching them this year. That topwater stuff is hard to beat. The only advice I have to people wanting to try it is patience. While not necessary when casting to breaking fish or sight casting, blind casting introduces a new element of difficulty sticking with it. I was just about to give up and join the grouper slingin in the back when i watched that mahi come from over 30 yards away to smoke the plug down!
Cheers!!

Great catch Arlen, Chip, and crew! I may be new to this board but not new to fishin'.I hope I don't offend others here, but I think you guys have become the JIGMASTERS of Onslow Bay! I've never had much interest in jigging for grouper until recently and I can tell you that your reports have sparked that fire. Although I have caught groupers on jigs , I haven't spent the time to refine this technique as you have. Great job and thanks for helping me see grouper slaying from a different perspective. I gotta lot to learn!
