Had a bit of a slow day. Tons of current adn wind made the conditions very unfavorable. Lost lots of tackle but did manage to land one snowy grouper and some ajs, one of which was 101lbs. We got an official weight because he was attacked by an estimated 200lb+ mako and died but not before he gave me a hell of a work out. Hooked the mako but he bit through #12 wire about 5 minutes into the fight. That was awesome watching the mako come up and feed within "petting" distance until he finally ate a chunk of fresh albie. Arlen had about 3 or 4 bites on topwater but did not manage to hookup. It was exciting watching the bites anyways though. It was a pretty slow day but one for the memory books with the mako making an appearance. I will post up pictures tomorrow. Cheers!
Big jack! I really wonder what you fellas will jig up next? A 200 lb jack? A big warsaw? May be one of those rare cuberas?
As hard as you guys work at it, nothing would surprise me.
Thanks for the post.

Thanks Nick. I would happily take any of those options but I think the 200lb jack would be least surprising! Especially fishing with A.S.S master, Arlen.
Must have been a hell of a mako to want some of that big ole reef donkey. Nice pic Chip. This fishing thing can be pretty humbling at times. Give em hell next time.
We estimated the mako at 200lbs+. Thursday was definitely a rough day for us but you win some you lose some. I can just hope we get em next time. Cheers!
