It is great to see that big fish crash a flat line there is no better feeling in the world. Have I fished around the world no. But I can say this in the area I fish when I fish for tuna I have found the wwb method to be the most productive way of putting tuna in the boat. Do I think trolling plastics requires skill yes I think you must be aware of how to construct a spread and the like. Now In all serious again I invite you mariner and you box come to oc fish with me we can spend all day fishing whatever way you like and one day trolling how I like and see what happens. I am willing to put a thousand bucks on the line thats the honest truth no bragging no boasting just how I feel. Mariner box come on over Its can be freindly bet or we can each put a grand in. awaiting your humblest replys
Want to go fishing? Fine.
Want to bet on something with fins? I don't. That won't prove anything EXCEPT that on a particular day, one way was better than another. It's the long run that counts. Year after year, day after day, is what taught me what works. Consistant production payed the bills at home and on the long liners and draggers I ran.
Sure your way for you works for you. Consistantcy on your part honed your skills. Consistantcy on my part over the years, HONED MINE ,from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Carribean to wherever , worked for me.
Be sure in yourself Scrum as others are in themselves. I would not try to tell anyone that my way was the best way. IS yours the best way?
I'm sure your years of experience have taught you the fine points of ALL kinds of fishing.
I'll stick with my experience and still try other ways of fishing. JUST to experiment and learn new tricks are fine too. BUT, Scrum, untill the WWWB consistantly works better than the OLD ways, I'll still try and LEARN new tricks on the old way of fishing. READ where I put mine.
BTW, I learned how to use the GREEN stick method from a Japanese comm. guy. YIKES, that trick works well in lots of places , BUT not for me. My boat couldn't do it well. Have you tried it?
I think Cap'n D egreed with me on where to place the WWWB presentation. I'm sure others have experimented with the WWWB and came up with their own version. SO WHAT'S TO PROVE? WWWWB or WWB or WB? What's to prove?
Learn BRO....LEARN . I still keep trying.
I just called a friend out in Port Arthur. He is one of my mentors . I consider him "THE" guru of trolling . I woke the poor guy up. His wife is really pee'd at me. Oh well. I asked him about this WWWB thing. He just took a minute to get his act together and he just said " WTF Joe , if it works for him. Fine. See if he'll show you his tricks. If he doesn't like yours, fine...NOW GET THE HELL OF THE PHONE".

REREAD my posts I never said wwwb trolling was the best I said it was the best for me where I fish and what I occasionally fish for however in my home turf I find the wwb fishing is the best FOR ME the offer still stands however on the bet
Now I will share something that I hope anyone can learn from its a theory I have that might help explain some things at least it does for me. No this is for tuna only. When the leader to the bait enters the water has anyone notice the v that the leader produces and when I say V I mean the wake the actual leader pushes as it goes through the water this is mostly seen on swimming baits or deeper running lures. Couple that with swivels and I think you have a combo that spooks tuna of all types. Now lets examine some of our favorite tuna rigs.
1-Spreader Bar
2-Bird Rig
3-Daisy chain
4-WWB bait
5-Green Stick
6-dangler rig
7-Kite fishing
What do all these rigs techniques have in common well the spreader bar/ bird daisy chain /dangler and green stick break up the water making it hard for tuna to see the v and the terminal tackle. THe wwb if used with a wind on and a bally makes the entry to the water so that no v is produced from the leader entering the water and the swivel is spaced away from the rig. The kite rig takes it to the extreme keeping the whole leader out of the water and green sticks and danglers have similar results keeping the leader out of the water. Now I think if you don't fish any of these rigs I think you can improve your odds of cathcing more tuna by covering your swivels with small lures as mariner suggests. I hope you can follow this post let me know what you think
I must agree with Scrum on this one. I have fished with Phil many times, and he has shown me how effective WWB fishing is for bluefin tuna. It is probably the most effective way in our area to fish for the bft.
