just use a 32oz lead and put a 16/0 7691 on the back swivel. I put an 8" piece of 174lb single strand above and below the sinker. The set up kills.

So ... I think the answer to the question is you should be fine with those planers although most use bigger ones (16's or 24's) Usually in the higher column I think people use weights or weighted lures more than planers. I dont know why ... maybe because of bite planer strikes and bite-offs?

I've also had them and heard of them hit chuggers...my long baits besides the shotgun tend to be chugger types.

On my CC with no riggers just kingfish rod holders on the T-top my long baits (out of the kingfish holders) will be squitches, Jr. Ilanders, Mini Jags something like that. Flat lines will be something throwin a little water: chugger, alien, Sailure. Then 1 planer and 1 trolling weight off the corners. JAG or Ilander heavyweight down the middle WWB.

On a boat with rigggers I'll do the same thing but i'll also throw in two squid chains. All baits rigged with wire BTW.

I run all 7-9 inch jet heads. Run the corners right off the tip, no dropback. I have noticed that the more drop back the worse your hook up ratio becomes. run the riggers off tags if you can, if its too windy than i just run 4 lines plus two teasers. I like blue silver and gay bob colors, blue silver with orange/white/pink underneath has had alot of success with. use double hooks on everthing stiff rigged with the trailers sticking halfway out the skirt.
