Hey Alex, you and I have good relationship here on SFC. We see thing's alot alike, I think we would both agree to that. I also agree with your attitude about giving kid's WAYYYYYYYYY more than what they need. In my opinion, it set's the bar too high and well could lead to failure down the road. I am all about giving them a positive experience that they have to PARTICIPATE in(sweat equity). With that said, if the Good Lord is willing ( I'm working on my end as we speak) and I have a boat that will be able to be apart of the B&G Club's activity's down here, as well as the "Wounded Warrior" fishing program, can I count on your support? I'm not trying to blind side you or make you look like a heel. You may even be the guy rigging the bait's, if you so desire. If you don't feel comfortable answering here, send me a PM. Again, I'm not tryin' to set you up, you know better than that. Frank

You can count my support in that type of B&G Club effort (I also support them directly) and Wounded Warrior Project......might want to start a new thread on this one so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.....

Like I said earlier, the owners and moderators of this website should practice some decency and lock this forum.

While I may not have liked everything Wahoonbox did or say, out of respect for all his contributions to Sportfisherman and tutelage to me and many others, this section should be locked down

You certainly have a point, and if the kids were asking for those sorts of gifts for themselves, I'd feel exactly the same way. The fact of the matter is that what the kids asked for was for the clubs - to be shared by all of the members of the club...

Come on down and I'll take you for a little tour.

The Boys and Girls Clubs provide a safe location with adult supervision for these kids - they have a place to do their homework - and someone to help if needed, and then plenty of games and activities to keep them occupied - either after school or during the summer.

The activities include Basketball, ping pong, a computer lab, board games, etc - Most of the kids are a lot more active and safer being at the clubs that at home without supervision.

Thats what it's about. Helping kids that may not have much help at home.
Socializing, home work, team sports, life lessons, etc.
From responsible adults.
Sometimes just someone to just talk to.
They may not live in homes where they could have these things, they may live in homes where these things are not possible.
I see no difference between taking kids who would never have the opportunity to fish out fishing and giving kids the opportunity to view a big screen and play video games with thier friends. Kids are kids. Keep thier attention and then teach them how to do for themselves. Give em a place to hang. Thats what organizations for kids are about.
I think some people just don't understand that these kids come from a place where Daddy isn't teaching them anything ( and that may be a good thing). An understanding adult in an environment kids want to be in can do wonders to keep them off the streets.
