I guess after my mishap yesterday and the fishing Gods getting a great laugh out of it they smiled on the Predator and blessed us with some nice fish.
The shot showed little to no edge and fishing blended water was going to be the day so I went to structure and worked it all day.
Got to the break about 7:30 and put the lines in and watched the parking lot fill up as I worked off to 40 fathoms. Just before we dropped off into the deep...bam the planer goes off and planer comes out of the water upside down and I knew that we had a nice Hoo. Short fight and Rusty Warren finely gaffs the first 40+ pound Hooand its Hoonbox. Lines back in and boom 25 pound Black Fin on the right long and then I get pushed off the spot by the smaller boats. Work around the area and finely get back to the spot and double down but lose one of the Hoos. Guys on the rods are getting it done and a 60 pounder hits the deck. We get lines back out and I get to make the turn and go back over the spot and second Wee Fin bites and hits the deck. By now its 10:30 and there is 20 or more boats hammering the spot and I hate crowds so I head North with out a sniff. Warren finely can't stand it and comes to the bridge to talk about what to do and snap, reel screaming he heads back to the pit.15 minuets later, 65 pound Hoo hits the deck. Hi 5's around and its back to work. 30 minuets later another 40+ pound hoo in the box. A hour goes by with out a sniff and then the shotgun goes and then the left long. Almost before I can get the left long out of the rod holder when it goes slack and I can't get him back. Fought that fish for over 20 minuets with it staying deep and then I saw it...wow that must be a 5' fish and thick...wrong it was 6' long and thick! Well I'll let the picture speak for its self. That Hoo was 84 pounds and took Warren and one of the charter guys to get it over the side.
