Down here in South Florida it seems like the most successful day-to-day 'hoo farmers are pulling very simple sea witch rigs with strips or ballys as often as the islanders..
A top local captain pulls only two lines. 1) rigger/planer deep and 2) 200 feet back. Usually one pink and the other blue/white.
Once in a while when pulling a larger spread, you will see black/red and black/purple introduced until a color stands out.
So the question is around the sea witch rig with 30# outfit:
On planer, flat-line and with cigar weights - what wire size, mustad model hook type and size (i.e. needle eye, southern), sea witch head weight (1/4, 1.5) would everyone recommend? Do you go pin rig, copper, band? Cigar weight sizes?
Keep in mind here we fish for wahoo in 130-300 feet which is 1 to 3 miles off-shore and run a small 23' foot boat.
