Marty,
This post is from a friend of mine. Please help him out, he is a great young fisherman.

We do a lot of jigging offshore and the wahoo is the hardest to land for the obvious reasons. When it comes to wire i personally believe it will kill the action of the jig.150-200lb leader material and 500-1000lb kevlar chord with 10-12/0 size siden hooks for your assist hooks made at least 5inches long.I just believe when you hook him up a longer assist hook to keep the teeth away from the leader and jig will give you a better shot at bringing him boatside.I think i'm 0 for 6 or something on wahoos on the jig but maybe Arlen will respond since he landed his 45lber earlier this year.Good luck jigging.
Our common way of doing things was to drop the jig down deep after bailing dolphin and when we were ready we would put the boat in gear and drop the hammer to about 6-9 kts till it was on the surface..........don't forget to hold on their not gentile strikes!!!!!!!!!!
