Thurs- Rough ass! Trudged on out to some numbers I had (thanks)
Lines in. Nothing for a while. Planer rod finally goes off and nice wahoo comes to the gaff. Not a huge one. But it was iced quickly as it gave us the oppurunity to go to the scales later in the day.
Time goes by and another small wahoo comes in the boat. Still not what we are looking for. A few short strikes here and there. Cutoffs there and here. Then the right flat 6' Stand up Sniper rod starts screaming! I know this is the one for us right here and now! The owner puts up a good fight. I get to the see the fish and it does not look that big at all. It comes to the boat, sees the boat and smokes it again! Finally it turned to the boat and here it comes to the transom. Hunt4fish takes a gaff shot and lifts the short stocky pig fish in the boat. I don't know who took the whippin more, the fish, the owner or Allen's forearms from double handing 2x on the gaff to get the fish in the boat.
It carried the weight all the way through the tail. Ended up being 36 lbs even. Got to the scales and we were 3rd with 30 minutes to go and another boat weighed in a good fish and put us in 4th so far.
Had some shingles and one gaffer to finish out the day also.
Friday- Even rougher. Multiple bite offs, short strikes but no fish. Missed a fish that was probably a sail judging by the scaleles smashed ballyhoo. Played storm chaser from noon till 1 and fished hard the last hour and no fish to the scales.
Did not fish Saturday. I believe we ended up 6th or 7th overall for the tournament. But it does not pay for that low on the pole.
Thanks to Hunt4fish for the invite and the accomadations. Enjoyed it my friend. I hope you liked the new boots!![]()
