Thanks Matt and john...will definately give this a try

We quit using dead baits in the early 90's for them Hoo's....Just to many negatives associated with dead bait vs high speed trolling...We catch all our Hoos on lures at high speeds (14+knots)
I use a custom made 0 degree double hook rig (900lb cable, thick heat shrink, custom made southern tuna style hooks w/ long conical points)...This rig is stiff yet has some flex.
I've put just about every hook to the test under extreme conditions...I've had mustads 7691s and 7732 fail on me...Saw two 10/0 7691's hooks straighten out this past Wahoo season...One was on a potentially winning Hog.![]()
Some of the strongest hooks out there are made by Quickrig and/or Melton's Dozer hooks...Some prefer open throat and some prefer close throat...I have found no difference in hook up ratio w/ either of the styles.
Everybody's info. has been very helpful.
Thanks,
PELAGIC
rarhomes.........Kinda funny that rhymes with RAY RHODES.
If im wrong I apologize but I smell a rat here.![]()
In that double hook pic above, where can you but the wrap that is around the hook shank to keep it rigid?
Will do...It's on the agenda for this yr's Wahoo season...Only problem is its so hard to get good video in rough seas...During the winter time/Wahoo season, Bahamas has some serious weather...We only fished one tournament that was 4-6'...The other tournaments were easily 8-12'...not fun even on the 61' Viking.
There is a video out there by Capt. Ron Schatman...He's HS trolling San Sal. at 18+ kts w/ Emery Black (local legend/has caught more 100+lb Wahoo than any man I've ever met)...They pull in several 100lb+ Wahoo ungaffed on the deck of the boat...one trip...It's pretty amazing video footage.
Maybe we can get Adm. or someone from SF.com to come down and shoot some video/pics at the tournaments this winter? If interested, let me know...I'll see what I can muster up.
Waa, waa, waa ,waa, waa--- and what do you think it is a mill pond making videos of NC Giant BFT in January?![]()
What is your fishing platform again?--- 61' what?--- Oh excuse me, I know it has to be miserable for you sitting in the mezinene sucking on those Bahamian Goombay smashes--- pinapple rings and straws and such in such treacherous conditions (see, it's so fancy I can't even spell the sombich).
make us a hi speed trolling flick![]()
