So are they leaving anything to fish for over the winter, bottom fishing that is. Whats next seabass. Do these people not realize what they are doing.... We are in a recession and they are just making it worse for some people. Commercial fisherman, some charter boats, head boats. Really what are these people suppose to do, just stop fishing during the winter until these idiots sitting in there comfterable chairs in D.C., THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN FISHING IN THERE LIFE, JUST SOLEY LOOKING AT THE NUMBERS PRESENTED IN FRONT OF THERE FACE! They leave triggers and sea bass for the winter. And only 5 vermilion snapper, and what 3 groupers total for the regular season, this is a joke. Really whats next the are going to close the season for mahi in may. "They are practically jumping in the boat so there must be a shortage of them, lets just close that season too, I mean while we're at it."

All other industries are managed by people that work in the industry. The fishing industry is managed by a group of non fishing and anti fishing scientist. Thats the problem. My old roommate worked at Duke Marine Lab in Beaufort, she brought one of her friends over once and the girl was telling me she worked for the grouper fishery division. She was doing the research that they use to decide to close or restrict the fishery. She told me that she wasn't against fishing, but was against killing fish.
