Slow! as said by Trophy in his report.
Sunday lounged at the Cape with my girl and her pup.
Monday 8/5- Stayed inshore looking for sails. Lots of biteoffs behind the hooks. Kings here, several attempts by tiny dolphin on the long line and the flat. Had something rather large destroy the teaser and ate the moldcraft chugger in tow never to be seen againFound 3 nice bait balls and pounded them over and over for a couple of hours only to get bit by my token cudas. Before we called it a day I jumped in mask, snorkel and flippers and swam with the bait ball. Approx 75-100 schoolie cudas taking turns with the bait. Really cool site to see.
Tues inshore- baby gags, blues and convicts were the norm on the finger mullet. Had a convict eat my finger mullet while I was retrieving my cast net on the other side of the boat. Baby gags were eating fingerling pinfish
Wed -looked the old drum and had uh, well some difficulty finding proper fresh bait. (figured I could find it on the way to to the grounds even though I went past numerous pelicans diving right out front. Called it a day and headed back in only to find Capt Brian loading up the boat with bait and heading up the ditch. Had a good meal at the Beaufort Grocery that night.
Thurs lounged out behind shackleford with my girl and here pup. Caught some tiny undersized flounder.
Friday morning- More of the same inshore for sails. Got a nice gaffer, hung some cudas raised one sail did not bite. Had a flattened ballyhoo by another sail.
Friday late afternoon early evening. Secured a net full of fresh turbo menhaden right out front this time. Went 3 for 4 on the old drum. Called it a night with some storms moving in the area before lines in.
All in all a good time and better than being at work.
