using gps numbers

Quick question on GPS numbers ... when using number from maps etc, if there is one digit (e.g. 34.1.10 or 34.10.1) and you are entering these into a chartplotter do you need to add "0"s and on which side of the number do you add them?

I may be stating the obvious here, but don't try to type decimal numbers where the machine is set up for minutes/seconds or vice versa.
