TW 01 15 07 BFT report
I think I'm going to take up king fishimg. This BFT addiction is making me seriously frustrated!
Monday had Will J with his 11 and 14 year old boys( great focused fisherman) and Doug S. Lines where in before 6AM on the Hutton. Again great signs-3-4 degree temp break, wads of bait, birds, slicks but no tuna for us! Most amazing we where out there all alone! No fleet's within my 12 mile radar range!! Would have been great to hook up with out potential interference but no luck. Ran one rig back 1000' ( no boats near us) and still no luck. I can't wait til this BFT season is over and I'm going after yft.Probably try again this w/e. I need to have my head examined! Sea ya, Fred

At least you guys have some good fishing to look forward to. Up here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, it's 4 degrees F, wind is north at 18 sustained, gusts to 33 so far. We have a looong way to go.

Was out Monday also
We pounded the area around Trawler Bouy and had one there on Friday( lost at boat when leader touched the wheels) and got a small 77 inch fish on Saturday but nothing Sunday or Monday. Great looking conditions about a 1 mile towards the shoals from the bouy but no tuna. Watched small school of sharks going ballistic on the surface eating some type of bait with a million birds over them but no tuna. Will be back at it probably next week after cold front passes and give it another try before moving up the coast for Yellowfin.

Good luck John

Fred Caveman, I'm not alone I guess! 2 years ago it was not uncommon to catch 3-4 tuna's in the AM on 400# leaders. The fish are not here this year! Safe trip north. Fred |
