Tuna Wahoo 5/2/10
Our first trip of the season and clearly the bite wasn't wide open like yesterday. Listening to the other captains on the radio it was kind of depressing ! We got a late start today, not leaving the dock until 6:45. Running north I could hear that the jig bite of yesterday was not happening so I switched over to the trolling mode using umbrella shads on braid. In about 2 hours we boxed our limit and released an equal number. Jason Woloshin, age 8 and his Dad both got their first stripers. Jason Jr. started to feel the effects of the building seas and at 10:30 we headed back to the dock. Not a touch today on Stretch lures, and the stripers were all filled with rainfish and spearing. Tight Lines.

Thanks Box-- Some days are better than others !
Rainfish are small fish 2-3 inches long, big schools dimple calm water making it look like its raining. Great tuna chum, but too soft to put on a hook. Stripers love them.
