After a sucessful run-in yesterday morning, my port engine rebuild is over and everything looks good. Gave it a good run outside the inlet yesterday and saw bait busting all over the place. I slowed to run on one engine while adjusting the injectors, and Glenn set a line out and hooked up a 30-ish Mack, then another knock-down dead stick while we were drifting. How's that for multi-tasking.
Thanks to all the guys who gave me a hand during this project, there were a few steps where one person certainly could not get it done.
A great big THANKS to Mike Perkins of Perkins Diesel in Chesapeake, VA. He advised me along the way and when I dropped off a truckload of parts from the engine, he had a new set of parts waiting for my return trip down. He kept me out of trouble and was only a phone call away when I had a question. Great guy to deal with.
See you guys out there, but I'm sure it's gonna blow like hell for the next few weekends now that I'm running again.
