I was wondering the same. Very strange. Not only does it seem to pop right out of their mouth when they hit the boat, but it comes back with the bait still on it to boot!

I have been looking for the picture I have of one of the hooks they used. It is weighted and barbless and has a very funny offset to it. There was a picture of it in Saltwater Sportsman some time ago. The pic below is another and is very similar to the featherless variety that was more prevelant. If anyone can dig up the pic of the old Southern Style Tuna Squid Jig it would be appreciated. I bet Captain Brian Daley has a case of them in his garage.
