Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
not sure if you have tried this.....
when I fished with a guy down in San Sal this summer in the bahamas the tunas behaved the same exact way. Ended up putting a medium naked with long relatively light leader (80-130) and a inline sinker, probably a 36-48 oz ozoned.......Capt made a wide turn around the fish which sounded and then pulled out of it. He told me to watch when the bait starts swimming back up after pulling out of the turn it'll get hit.....sure as shit it did. These were a nice class of yellowfin 60-80 lb fish....Had numerous other hits on the large ballyhoos which are the only ones we had left but they were all just shy of the hook. Mediums was the way to go.......
It would be very interesting to try the kite with a live bait or gumme bird down there......

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Don't suppose anyone on here may know of a kite rigging video, perhaps with a bit of techniquie on it as well?
As soon as i get some results / feedback i'll write up a quick report for everyone.
Happy fishing

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
I think Shoefish's advice may be very applicable in your case. Your YFT fishery reminds me of the ones in the Gulf of Mexico, west coast of Mexico and Bermuda. In each of these locations the yellowfins are 3 year olds and larger (60 lb +) do not get caught on the troll much, and are targeted primarily on the chunk or LIVE BAITING. If you know where the fish are, then live bait is the way to go. In the gulf they like hardtails (bluerunners) and various shads, while in the pacific and Bermuda, live macks and small tunas are the ticket. Whether presented through a kite on the surface, slow trolled off the riggers or down with a downrigger, I believe you will score and have fun.
Good luck
