I had the pleasure to fish this weekend with some of the best practitioners of our sport that SE North Crackalack has to offer. I was invited to fish on the Predator in the Bald Head Island Fishing Rodeo. The entire affair was sponsored by a local kick ass radio station (Rock 104.5) with the main man being on board his boat of choice. Check out these links for the details...............

This was a meat tourney with aggregate weight for two days being declared " Top Gun" and taking home the bacon.
We fished on Friday in somewhat other than perfect conditions and managed to be in the running for the money on Saturday.
The crew on board included some of the best the sport has to offer.
The Predator primed and ready.
The crew included captain Freddie Holland. Who really is a local legend.
SFC's own Captain Lee Parson
Warren Owner and operator of the Predator and one helluva fisherman.
Myself and several others.
It was tough going on day one but like I said, we were in the running.
Here a couple of action shots for those of you that thrive on the KILL.
If you have never been to Bald Head Island it is worth the trip. It really is a different place and a part of our state that remains one of North Carolina's best kept secrets, but that is reserved for another post. Getting there and back requires either going by boat or taking the private ferry that runs when it cares to. All I'll say is that some things are worth the wait. It really is different. Cars are not allowed and transportation is by golf cart only which invovles it's own set of surprises.
As much as I wanted to go for the kill today, it just wasn't part of HIS plan. Fore today was my son's' first prom, in the 8th grade no less. So I got on the last ferry last night and got home ASAP.
Today was the day to go pick up tuxedos and try in my own lame way, in 2 hours or less to explain the finer ponts of manhood to the same boy that has not only been a royal pain in his Dad's ass but also and forever the center of my universe. When is the last ime you put on cuff links?
Yes, this little shit kept me from the promised land but, these are the day's photos and memories that will long outlive anything that could have happened on or off that island today and they will forvever be etched in my mind long after the memories of the blood letting fades.
My kid was so nervous on the way to his girl's house that he begged me, after we were half way there, to take him home and forget the whole thing.
Obviously Pop's wasn't going to have any part of that. Here is a shot of all 130 pounds of him, trembling at the knees and going to his baby's door.
How the hell do you even spell corsage let alone manage to put it on someone's wrist?
And, before you start in about his hair, which I know I deserve, It wasn't that many years ago that my Dad had to put up with the same crap after the Beatles appeared on Ed Sullivan....................well, maybe it was many years ago.
Thanks for reading and thanks for sharing and thank you for allowing me to share this day's events with my extended family. The fishing will always be there, some days better than others but to watch your child grow into adulthood only happens once. Don't ever miss that chance.
If your day hasn't come yet..................... it will.
Thanks for reading.
