As posted back in Nov. anytime I visit family in SW VA I try to hit the streams for a little trout fishing. The boys are getting familiar with one stretch that had been stocked on the 17th. Flow was up and the fish were hungry smacking the baits and fighting hard in the upper 30 degree waters. Wyatt was struggling to land his first fish when he and Nolan left me to explore upstream. With 3 fish in my bag, the 2 boys show up with big grins and full limits, Wyatt happened on a hole filled with a bunch of fish and made quick work of them in under 10 minutes. Nolan did come to his senses and released a few before taking his 6th. ME, I tried and failed at the fish as an older gentleman fishing with a cain in the snow slapped 3 fish in my face. Off to the stream I went spending the next hour catching my last three with many lost due to fast stream flow and alot of damaged tree branches along stream side from recent wind/ice/snow storms. Another great holiday fishing trip enjoying the mountains with the 2 older boys. Alot of fishermen out Wenesday with the mild 40 degree weather and being off work for the holidays. Going to try some salt water striper fishing if we can get out with the 20kt winds gusting to 35kts, hopefully with the wind out of the WNW we will be able to fish the ocean front as long as the fish are well inside the 3 mile line.
