All those years of dragging in line weights up on the Chesapeke for stripers!
I'm going to try these this fall instead of the mojo setup for the ocean stripers. Thanks!![]()

Try the small longline clips, I think they are 3", instead of the coastlock swivels. You will find the come off much easier, especially if its rough. At least thats what I found with this set up. I started out the same way with the swivels then made that change.
This is what eventually led me to start using the 5" longline clips on my inline planer.
Thanks John, I will give this a try some time. Neat idea.
Excellent post John. Thanks for taking the time to spill some knowledge. I think a 1 ended 1 loop bridle would work as well if not better. Here's why. There is no planer tripping to be concerned with, so the drag(pull from lure and leader) on the backside of the bridle(second loop) neccessary for the planer to trip properly, is no longer neccessary. Correct me if I am wrong. I am sure there is something I am missing maybe the board or yourself can point out. Seems to be less likelihood of a tangle, also it may just keep the mainline far enough out of harms way to prevent getting chafed when something huge hits that squid shaking around in front of the fish you may have hooked.
Of course, a single lead loop will probably give it the action of a dangler and cause it to get crushed even worse.
Hoo knows?
Great post John.

uh oh.......
I have tested the setup as I originally designed it and the snap swivels work good. Plus, I like to keep as much hardware out of the water as possible.
These are long line clips
