ft manasquan inlet at 4am and reached the AP to find decent life with schools of skipjacks and falsies breaking the surface, decided to drop jigs right away and I landed a false albacore immediately, after a few more false albacore on jigs we decided to make a move and headed south to the Chicken Canyon and found a 3 degree increase in water temp. from 65 to 68 and more schools of falsies, finback whales, and turtles.
We fished this area hard and finally found the bft holding tight in 172' of water. We boated 3 bluefin, all cookie cutter under fish. 2 bluefin took 8oz hammered diamond jigs 1 took a live snapper blue on the bottom. We also had a baby mako take a dead sardine at 60'.
Good trip over all with lots of action and absolutely incredible weather, there is a lot of life in the chicken canyon area, much more than the AP and glory hole
Final Tally: A bunch of skip jacks and falsies on jigs, 3 under BFT, and 1 baby mako
