Sorry for the delay in getting pictures posted. Here we go, step one - select rods for the mission.
In this stack is an avet LX on a 8 ft., speedmaster on a 7 ft.,penn 535 on a 7 ft. and a spheros on 7 ft..... Trying to carry these to the pier or on a buddies boat can get me into trouble if all rigged and snagging everything. Besides the tips and guides more likely to get bent or broken.
Step 2 - Place all rods back to back and try to stagger reels that are different heights up the rods as seen here :
Once all rods are back to back, pick out the heaviest outfit in the stack. On this stack it would be my 8 ft. with 50 lbs test line. Grab line in middle of rod. (Make sure it's the main line coming from the tip, this line runs the whole length of your rod on the outside of the guides)
Step 3 - wrap line around stack. You should have 2 twist going on at the same time, one at to and one on bottom as seen here.
Keep wrapping until line gets tight and then all you do is tuck line behind guide. When finished your rods will be held together better then any strap can hold and you will have less damage to them when out and about.
.
To make it easier for some to understand, try it with one or two rods first. I can carry 7- 8 rods with no problem and still handle the rest of my tackle.
