Tired of losing my eye removal tool

I have gone through a bunch of arrow shafts,that I use for removing my ballyhoos eyes,so I fixed this problem.I took and drilled a small hole through the shaft about an inch from the end and ran a piece of leader through it and crimped and did the same thing to my bucket,now everytime I look for it it's right there when I need,just a simple tip I thought some of you could use.

Funny you bring this up. My dad found an arrow with a loop of mono crimped to the shaft floating in the MHC Yacht Basin the other day.

I guess maybe a small EPIRB hooked to the loop will help too

I think it is a good idea to attach it to the bait bucket.

I switched to wooden dowels a few years ago because the arrows kept rusting.

My dumbass stuck a shaft deep in my leg last year. Nasty scar, still hasnt healed completely.

one thing i did was to take the long tube that pre-cut copper wire comes in (about 2 bucks) and I glued that to the inside of my rigging bucket. It makes for a nice sleeve that fits an arrow shaft perfectly. It also allows you to be mobile from your rigging bucket if you need your eye popper on one corner and ur bucket is on the other corner. . .you dont have to move everything.

but of course it never tends to find its original home

Never leave that thing sitting upright in your bucket. Wet deck, little wave, slip and finish your day much ealier than you might have planned.
Leaving in the bucket is just inviting disaster. Could you thing of anything nastier than to get stuck with than an arrow shaft stuffed with bally eyes?

i simply just lay it in ice under the bait tray when i am thru punching eyes for the day, besides, how much room does the little super slam shaft actually take up?

when i empty the tray at the end of the day or the weekend, i just rinse the tray and the shaft and lay the shaft in the tray, ready for next time.
