Bite me
Tire blowout question
Would you rather have a tire failure on the front or rear of your tow vehicle while towing?

I would rather have the blowout in the rear so the steering isn't effected

Had this happen
Was hauling bird hunting setup in Texas, that included dogs, dogboxes, water, and a Polaris 6 wheeler...not the lightest trailer in the world either.
Didn't have a blowout, the whole damn wheel broke off, right rear.
I kept her steady and slowly came to a stop. Slowly because the brake drum and everything flew off as well.
I will never forget looking in the rear view mirror and seeing my wheel following behind us and the hit the trailer and launched at least thirty feet into the air.
Would hate for it to happen on a congested road, we were out in the country but doing around 55mph. The worst part was that it shook the dogs up something awful, one of them shit all in the kennel and when I say "all in," i mean top to bottom of the box, and head to toe on the dog, nasty
Having had it happen I am glad it was a rear wheel because I was able to keep it straight and guide it onto the side of the road.

Bite me
I'm with you two on this one. I have to tow later this week with a plugged tire, and just wanted to know if I should move it off the front to the rear. I will today. Thanks.

Crab mustard is good
I had my right rear blowout going 60mph on rt13 on the eastern shore of VA. The Suburban was loaded and the 8,500+lb boat didn't help either. Luckly the traffic was light. After a few tight seconds all was under control. Having a front blow would have sucked a lot worse. I replaced all the tires on the Suburban with 10 ply shortly after this event.
