The same items that catch wahoo, marlin, blackfin etc, and same techniques can be used.

The best bait overall in MY opinion for yellowfin is a naked/weighted rigged swimming ballyhoo, and skirted also work very well.

    Steelbendin,

There is a lot more to spreaderbars and how they are used than many realize. Heck, there's enough, in fact, for me to have spent a long time writing a big book "The SuperBar Bible" about them that answers not only whatever questions you have now, but others that you probably haven't even thought of yet! The book has hundreds of color photographs and detailed spread diagrams for different size boats and fishing situations too. The truth is, "knowledge is the key to success" when it comes to fishing and books are great ways of acquiring that knowledge. Stay tuned...we will be having a spring sale soon on our website and if you choose, you will be able to order the spreaderbar book while you check out our bars.

    Capt Fred,

"knowledge is the key to sucess", true-er word's have never been spoken. Especially regarding to sucess out there. Time in the seat and paying attention while there is what it's all about. Frank

Here is our spread for YFT out of OI. We run anywhere from 8-10 rods depending on conditions. Almost all sea witches B/W/C and P/W/C with few plain meat baits Off the outriggers and short center. Two spreader bars on the corners and a bird with Stinger on the long center. Everything has a hook with meat. Distance back depends on the fish. We start out tight and adjust further back if we need too.

I opt make my own Spreaders I use anywhere from 4" to 12" squid depending on what the fish are feeding on. Just depends on the day. I have some three strand bars and some five strand bars.I know Fred has some great bars.
