TIP OF THE WEEK #4 BE PREPARED

    Tip # 4....Be prepared

Being prepared can mean the difference In catching a few fish or loading up the boat...My gear & rigs are In top condition for every trip we take..The day or night before a trip Is spent getting ready..Checking main lines, rerigging leaders, checking drags, preping bait,& Checking the boat & trailer over..

When we go I make sure I have a wide range of gear at the ready..Somethings I would have on a trip would be bailing gear & bait for mahi you never know when those little guys will save your day..Others would be white marlin & sail fish rigs...I bring a wide range of lures plastics, nakeds, witchs, bars, daisy chains, & BIRD GREEN MACHINES..Im ready for anything that swims...All to often I hear guys on the vhf WELL I DONT HAVE THAT RIG OR THAT LURE...Another thing you hear Is Im out of ballyhoo...I always bring plenty of hoos In different sizes..This falls back on MATCH THE HATCH tip #1..Some days they want the smalls other days they eat anything & everything...You never know when the little bailers & bonita are going to eat up your hoos so bring plenty of bait....

Another thing I keep plenty of on the boat would be towels, gloves, fight belts & GAFFS...I have a wide assortment off belts & Gaffs I have gaffs for every occasion....Ive been on alot of rigs that have one gaff & one fight belt no rags & one set of stinky old nasty gloves...WHY...I dont know..I am at the ready & waiting for every rod to go down & If that happens Im ready for It & you should be too...If your a ho with out a boat ask the capt. what he needs & what you can do or bring to help out....

One thing About Brazil...I was not very happy with how unprepared the where when It came to the meat fish..If I hadnt brought some gear we would have not caught what we did....

    Good luck,& Tight lines..!

Jimmy- Don't forget to bring MORE THAN ENOUGH ice. It really blows to have to end a trip in the middle of a hot bite because the ice supply is inadequate.
