Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to put these together. I read every one, and gain 100% more knowledge than I had before. I'm sure it takes a bit of thought to put them together, so thanks.

Capt. Fred Archer-
Are those Captain Bob Melville UpRiggers?
Where can one buy these, and how much do they cost?
That lower rod, it operates in the same fashion as
when guys tie their rods on the rail of the long range
trips out of Diego?
Hope I’m not outta line postin this here.
if so apologies from a first poster

Stalker Outfitters sells release clips that you can hook onto the bar or the last squid in the center chain. I have been using them for the past few years and have done pretty good with them..

VAKing. Thank you for the kind words. Whether it's running charters, writing magazine articles, producing videos or DVD's, I am a teacher of fishing. Long ago I discovered even more joy in teaching others how to catch more and bigger fish than I did catching them myself. The main rewards are the appreciation and thank you's from a few nice folks like you.
T-Bird. Yup, those are Cap'n Bob's UpRiggers. Check the new black and gold models popular demand has caused Bob to add to the silver ones. Get details by sending me an email with the subject "UpRig" so security doesn't delete your mail and we'll send the scoop.
Whitey. Thanks for the tip on the releases. We like Penn and Cannon adjustable pressure downrigger releases. Various size rubber bands work well too. We'll give those Stalker ones a try.

Almost everyone in the Northwest uses downriggers for Salmon fishing and the number one clip releases by far is the canon offshore clip release's I love them but modify mine by using 100# mono and lengthen them out to about a 6 foot length they sweep better when your turning and can seperate my lines out a little better, when we we use them in Kona for pulling schoolies on the riggers for marlin I lengthen them out to 15 foot which lets our baits swim better , we add a rubber band wrapped around the clip release in this scenario to keep the tuna from popping the line loose this works great for blues which alot of times will come up and hit your baits before the chew and we noticed would pop them off the riggers but would not get hook ups when we started using the rubberbands it seemed like we got better hook ups!!!PEACE
