I thought you were talking about putting a pulley in front of the dredge to gain mechanical advantage and make it easier (although slower) to pull in. I am designing my dredge to run to a reel on my tower leg. The idea is to run the line from the reel through an eye short on the rigger (strongest part) and then to the pulley and back up to the rigger. I am a little worried the double line between the rigger and the dredge will get too twisted but I think a good swivel between the pulley and weight will suffice. See the below picture.
