    Timberwolf Grouper Report....WB---11/8/09

Since yesterday was so nice and today was supposed to be nicer, myself, Miss Squid, and Stacy loaded up the Timberwolf again to wreak a little more havoc on the gags. Ran across a mark a few miles out of the inlet which ended up being a school of pinfish.

Miss Squid was quick on the sabiki rod but apparently she thought it was a bit cool out this morning:

They were so thick and the water so clear that you could see them swarming under the boat. Three, four, five at a time were the norm and we had a livewell full in no time.

This screen shot shows exactly how thick they were----yes, these are all pinfish.

Even managed to find a couple of North Carolina hardtails (blue runners) to add to the mix this morning:

Made another stop for some different baits at the same spot we found them yesterday. Afterwards, a short run offshore found us in 90 feet of water rather quickly.

Stacy's first drop resulted in a 21" red snapper....not bad for the first fish in the box!

While Miss Squid was taking his picture, I dropped as well and caught this beauty:

Several more snapper bites and another short for Stacy before I was bowed up on a 36" gag:

Fished this area a bit on anchor but couldn't get them fired up so it was on offshore a few more miles to a ledge that I've named the "Squidress" ledge......got to keep the ladies happy every now and then.

It looked very promising so we dropped anchor----the anchor course was the same direction of the ledge and we ended up on the high side of it, but not by much. Didn't matter much though....the gags were here and they were hungry!

First few drops resulted in 26-28 inch fish as soon as it your bait hit bottom until Stacy connected with a nice 32"er.

Miss Squid wasn't far behind with a 32" fish of her own:

We caught and released a number of fish in the 28-32 inch range including this guy caught by Miss Squid:

Decided to call it a day early (11:30am) and take it to the house.

My now copywrighted/patent stern corner box shot (including a kingfish caught by Miss Squid on a bottom rig):

And a shot of the weekend's catch.....Saturday's fish on the right and today's fish on the left:

A couple of iced down facials for our good buddy HOLWHATCHAGOT:

Last but not least, a shot of the "Team Timberwolf" logo on the side of Stacy's 23' Kencraft----if you see us offshore, give us a shout!

I've also got some realtime video of gag bites as they happen to show exactly how fast and furious the action was.......would anyone like to see them?!?

    Tight lines.....

Gotta love a stern heavy boat!
Pretty work on the groupers and snappers Stacy, Squid and Andrea. Solid catches both days?

How did you cook the pinfish?

The facial shots brought a smile...but didn't take the sting out of watching from the sidelines. I am jealous. Pretty weather, women, and fish will do that to a landlocked croaker poker you know. Fantastic day. Thanks for the report buddy.
