    Tides

After reading about tides and the wahoo bite I was wondering how you tell when the tide is changing when you are 30 to 40 miles offshore say from Morehead City. Do you look at the tide table for Morehead city and go with that or is there a mathematical equation to figure out when the tide is changing 30 miles offshore compared to Land? This may be a dumb question but it just had me thinking.

I usually go with the inshore report. It may be off but you have to figure that if you are out there a half hour before and a half hour after you are going to hit the mark somewhere within your margin of error.
