Seen the gannets beehiving show at VA beach and it is a sight to behold, so was the three of us bowed up with big stripers on every cast on our LJT. The poor bunker were getting it from top & bottom nowhere to hide. The bigger question is; are there BFT under that biomas you guys are seeing now.
Have trawled many times through those Gannets in previous years and never caught anything. They work well together with dolphins and Cormorants too... Insisted in getting stripers in the shoals when they do that only to get albies and drum... At least if they show up that might mean that some blue things may show up again!

i just dont think they are on drum/trout. the MASS of these birds was just huge. like i said, several thousand in a small area, contiuously diving for 7-8hrs. if that was bunker, they'd be decimated lol , or a bunch of fatas gannets layin on the surface going UGHHHHH
marty, they were all around from BIP down to the shoals @ bogue today, nothing like the mass of yesterday, but still around.
yesterday was just unruly. i havnt seen that since ive lived here in THAT mass size.
if they are like that this weekend , and the surf is calm enough geoff, i WILL have the kayak out there just too see wtf they are eating.
Life gives me a new perspective and outlook daily.

Try them in your bait tanks...
at Clipperton Atoll we were easing up to a massive birdschool with 200lbers all under it when the gannets started dive bombing the deck boxes full of caballitos It is kind of unerving standing on the deck box chumming with those things shooting by your ear at 100 mph. We took some plywood and cut it to fit over the boxes
