If you've ever been in Marty’s presence, you will find an often intense man with opinions of his own that most people would never say out loud, yet have those very thoughts pass through their minds. Hell, if you ever fish with him and have taken his class, don't forget your gear! You will get sent below. Anyway, I tip my own riggers to that ability. I can tell you that while he is outwardly opinionated, seemingly self centered and sometimes well... controversial, he has been and continues to be an honest, trustworthy and a diligent person to deal with. Surprised many of you? I tend to think so. Before we approached him, I was given a few words of advice from others here on the site. Not sure why. Maybe people who don't know how to take his mannerisms form unfounded negative opinions. I can only say that the real DUDE is just as I have described nothing less in my book. As well, his hours and hours of help to us and charitable organizations in one of his busy months is more than some here will perform in a lifetime… an example for many to follow.

I don't know Marty except for what I've read here. (Though I am fairly certain he doesn't like crocs!!!)

What I do know is people who speak their mind will always be controversial. If you're one of those people, you have to be willing to take the heat and you have to be willing to stand up for yourself - sometimes against all odds. I'd rather be... and am more likely to respect, someone who tells it like it is than some suck-up who'll only say what they think people want to hear.

I don't have a whole lot of questions about where "Mr Box" is coming from and it's quite refreshing!

I like what you said. I am still new to this site so I have had the luxury of taking an objective view of a lot of the stuff that has been posted. The one thing that has struck me is some of the bashing directed to "Mr Box". I only know him thru his videos and his posts on this site and his introduction in a pm. What I see is the bashing could be handled in a more private manner that out in the open for the world to see. We are fortunate to live in a country that has free speech but some things are better said in private.

Well said FR! Marty is progressive and on top of his game. He is in the public eye, at least here on online.

Nobody wants to take shots at a looser, what fun is that. Everyone wants to take shots at the guy that successful, in 1st place, or just in the front of the pack. Marty is all of these things and more. That draws snipes from every cyber-balled internet hero that wouldn't have the stones in person to say 1/8 of what they are willing to type from behind a keyboard 1000 miles away.

In most cases petty jealousy, business competition or just "shits and giggles" are the real reason these "issues" come to light.

The old adage "only believe HALF of what you read" was coined before the internet. Now in the age of Screen Names and aliases that saying should be changed to only believe 1/10 of the crap you read online!

The BOX, or Marty, has helped me an awful lot, whether through his post, his videos, or from me PM'ing him with questions that he promptly answered, always saying to respond with another question if I didn't understand. I have never met him face to face, but hope to fish with him one day. During the commercial BFT season down in MHC, his reports and videos got me through work all of those long winter months up here in NE. Im not sure what this site would be without this world. Thankyou BOX.
