I could use a few tips or ideas. I'm sure somebody has some clever solutions
1. I keep my hooks and swivels in plano boxes, and never mix new and used stuff. But corrosion still finds its way in, and I end up dumping way too much stuff. Should I spray it all with WD40?
2. How do you store plugs?
3. How do store bucktails without messing them up?
4. And why in god's name does the rubber tube on my Ava jigs melt? The box looks like it been through a blast furnace
I have had the same problem time and time again. Corrosion finds it way in my dry plano boxs stuffed away in storage on my boat. I like to keep the bulk of my tackle stored somewhere its not going to get wet, and keep the things i know im going to be using in one or two boxs at the ready. At the end of the day dump it all in a bucket of water then dry and put back in a clean dry box. A little spray of saltwater is all it takes. I have thrown away packs of hooks never opend that sat on my boat and rusted.
Bucktails- i have a box full of them that are tangled and kinked like hell. Find a larger fly box..it will work.
FW, I just sprinkle it in the trays, I like the Plano boxes that have locks on 3 sides, get bounced around and keeps the powder in them. I got the idea from my neighbor, he puts it all his boxes.
Instead of throwing away you could feed to blue sharks like I have done for most of the season...
Up here in Jersey I have an awful go. The air up here just always seems wet. Hell, my outfits in the garage were even "sweating" a few times this year... A bit extreme but I designated one closet to storing them and my hunting stuff then bought a small dehumidifier.
Down in florida where its a different kind of humidity I have learned to store stuff "open". I set up about a zillion hook racks around the place and hang my stuff in very open air. A fine mist of wd40 seems to hold for a while. Corrosion block a bit better...
On the boat our big game rigs are stored in bags though I don't like it. We get those little desicant packs and put them in with em. A magic marker coating on the hooks tips and any roughed up spots seems to work well too.
