Swell Rider Sportfishing...Move Review- Into the Wild!!

Well Boys as I sit here bored to death because of the perfect weather I figured I watch a good movie, something that I normally don't do. So pay preview it is and the choice was " In To The Wild " I thought about reading the book at one time but you know the deal, it's a book. As for the movie it was a great choice. This really hit home because as some of you know I spent 22yrs living and working in Alaska. The journey he took reminded me of the many years I treked around with nothing but my back pack and a few bucks in my pocket. yes I made great money working up there but my best days were when I had nothing, no credit cards, no morgage, no car payment, no boat payment ect, ect.... Life was good alittle rough at times but it made you strong. As for me, I new the extreams of Alaska, the challenges that I face season after season, it was exciting. Alaska can be the one place that you bring sand to the beach as they say. As I got older sharing it was as much fun. My wife a Long Island girl who never ventured off the Island till I took her to Alaska. Again, no car, no credit cards, NO BILLS!!!! just backpacks and alot of adventure in our hearts. I have to say she was a real trooper, my wife spent more time alone while I was fishing the Bering Sea, with no car she would walk up and down Olson mountain to buy food and sometime hitch a ride back home, mostly in the winter,because we had snow starting in sept most years. It wa sa good life one that we both miss from time to time, mostly when we see tv show 's about Alaska it seems to be on tv all the time now. As for us we still own a home up there, have it rented out sit's right but the Kenai River were there's great Salmon fishing. We'll go back one day most likely when we sell the house but with this economy and the way the world is you never know we might just move back my little piece of the wild. Anyway if you get a chance rent " InTo The Wild " it's worth watching. Hopefully the next time I post it will be a fishing report. Ken Mullen

I Started out Crabbing and Longlining Halibut and Black Cod. Did some Salmon seining and chartering but Crabbing and longlining were my thing. Ken

Yeah Alaska is down rite awesome.My grandparents lived in Fairbanks in the early 50's and i'm actually looking at a photo of a monster bear my grandad shot that came inside the small village to steal more moose out of the storage building, he had made it away with a hind quarters earlier.
