Hi, The Lord sent 2 great days on the water! Slight sea's, BLUE water, cool air and bright sun. We trolled our BIG lures for both days and I consider the results successful!
1st day we ran 60 mile NE to 1000 fathoms. 83* water a pretty blue. Lots of fliers. Landed 1 gaffer and dropped one at the boat. Day 2 we had 2 nice gaffers and the big lures shook off several peanut mahi's that attacked baits bigger than them!!I'm glad because when I'm targeting BIG BM I don't want to deal with any game fish!
Sunday we went South to the Swansboro hole area, 100 fathoms. Great weedline and thousands of flying fish in the area of all sizes. I knew we where in the right area! At 2:15 the big man in the blue suit attacked the left long big Black Bart and was on!!Jamie jumped into the chair and buckled in while the fish half emptied a 80W Int reel set at 28#'s drag!! He greyhound a few times while Jamie was reelin and then the line went slack and he was off!!!BooooHoooo! I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!! The fish was bill wrapped as the 18" before the lure was heavily scarred and cut. We doubt he ever had the hook. That's bill fishing!
Oh well, our strategy worked and we had a ball. I will not change a thing for the Big Rock in 2 weeks. Hope to sea ya, Capt Fred
PS--Still need one more fisherman for the Big Rock BMT!!Call me if you know someone!!

Sounds like the big one went through several spreads with cut leaders, mainlines and no landings. Tourny fishing can be tough and frustrating..hang in there man. Hope he comes back to visit in June!
