    Swaging vs Crimping

    What's the diffrence.

I am new to this whole thing and don't know crap.

Can someone out there explain the diffrence between the two to me.

I looked at Swaging tools and crimpers online and they look the same to me.

True swaging is the "cup to cup" style that squeezes the sleeve to hold what is being crimped.

A true crimp is the "pin to cup" style the pinches a depression in the crimp sleeve to hold what is being crimped.

Now that the technical answer is out of the way, It has to do with the size of your tool. I carry crimping pliers with me when I'm fishing, and the Swaging tool is mounted to the bench in my rigging room...

    More technical shit

    Swage
To bend or shape by or as if by using a swage
    or
The tube swage process is done mostly with aluminum, copper or thin wall steel. A tube or a solid rod and reduce the outside diameter down to a specific diameter.

    Crimp
To press or pinch into small regular folds or ridges

Boring morning thought I would test my knowledge
