Anyone ever tried a mon-ka-lur on wire for wahoos yet?
Was thinking about putting one out when the wind lays.
Be interesting to see what happens.

Hey Nick, believe it or not it would be hands down a "Monk Lure". Probably pink and blue or blue and red. Awesome lure. Rigged on a piece of # 9 wire (16-18'), 9/0 needle eye hook, razor sharp and pulled in the left short or right long rigger position... once you pull a monk, you never pull another cedar plug. Hope this helps. Thank you. Capt. B.

Interesting, never thought about the monk as a wahoo plug.

The next bite on a jig.
One day while we were dolphin fishing, Darryl had me throw out a very small lure( about the same size as a monkalure) at the end of the day. I put it all the way out the back on the center rigger. I went 4 for 6 on wahoo's on it in the last hour of the day.

I always saw them on the Run-off and finally one day last spring we ran them. Brian, I think you were on board.

I was on the bridge and Capt. B saw a gaffer behind the plug, he calmly told O-Sea-D John to drop the plug back 2 ft. without a single mention of the fish.

Of course the result was a gaffer in the box.

The best part was the look of amazement on John's face as he looked up to the bridge with a grin as he shook his head in disbelief.

If Capt. Brian will run them, I'd definitely say they're worth giving a try.
