Well what a heck of a couple weeks it has been, lost my job, sold off nearly all the offshore tackle, got a nibble on my boat that will hopefully result in a sale. I have had alot of very good people call, email and basically telling me to hold in there it'll work its self out. Knowing that I have been down in the dumps I get a call Friday from a really good guy Capt. Troy Pate offering a day to the deep blue to relieve some of the tension and stress, yep I need a get away.
Well I joined Cpt. Troy, mate CL also Alan and his son at 5am for the run out, absolutely beautiful, heading south. Lines @ the Rise area and head to the Hole, pretty quick a slinger in the box. Little later the deep planer gets nibbled and bites back, CL puts a nice 25lb. Hoo on ice. Alot of boats went way down the beach high 200's, low 3's. Sounds like that was where the fish were at, some YFT's caught, Hoos, Blackfins and some Sail dogs throwed in. We were up in the low 500's when the bite down south kicked in, so we decided to work up to the BR and check it out. Worked rips and weed patches all day, getting knock downs and bite off all afternoon when finally something with a set decides to dance. Alan's son in the chair and Alan sinks the steel to a good 35-40lb. Hoo. a few more nibbles and we headed the JJ 2 towards MHC. Good to finally meet CL, alot of good info to be learned from him. Great day on the water, slow fishing but spent with some very generous guys, thanks alot Troy appreciate it very much!
AND KEEP YOUR CHIN HELD HIGH BRO.....WE ALL GO DOWNHILL BOBSLEDIN EVERY NOW AND THEN.....SOMETIMES WE CRASH...BUT SOON...THE ICE WILL MELT.....AND WE GET RIGHT BACK UP AND BACK AT IT AGAIN
Glad you were able to get out and put some fish in the box. It may be a sucky time now, but it only makes it better when you climb back to the top........
