033107 fishin trip
Weatherman called for a beauiful Sat for a change and he was right!!Trying to avoid the crowd on the Rock I put in on the 700 line 40 fathoms with the plan of fishing north to the 850-900 line of Oracoke. Found a rip with light weeds with a 70 to 72 temp break. The AM was picky and we landed a small mahi and sm hoo. Around the 780 line we had a sailfish jump on our offering and Mike S. landed it in 10 minutes. Took pic's with a disposable camera so we will not have pic's for a while, shucks!
Picked up and ran to the 850 line as we observed a fleet forming on our radar. Sure enough, 20+ boats working a 72 to 74.8 break. We pulled the hook on a double hook up right away. 30 minutes later, 1 then 2, then 3, rods hooked up!Chinese fire drill time! Landed all 3! What a ball. Final score-1 mahi, 1 hoo, 1 sail and 3 tuna with the largest goin 42#'s.
Get out there during April and have fun!!
