    straightening out lure skirts?

i just found about 35 lures burried in plastic bags..islanders, zukers with feathers and the crinkly plastic strips. green machines door knobs and so on. i put the islanders in boiling water for 3 minutes and pulled them out. after that i hung them up and combed them out. they look good. but the zuckers with the plastic on them wont come back to being straight. ideas??

QUESTION BACK AT YA BRO....DOES THE PLASTIC SKIRT ON A ZUKER REALLY NEED TO BE STRAIGHT? AND DO THE FEATHERS STILL LOOK GOOD ON THE ZUKERS?

the islanders looked like a big ole bush, all knotted up and stuff. the zuckers looked like a "L" shape. you dont think i should worry about it? i mean the islanders look brand new now. what do you do with your stuff at the end of the day?

THE SAME AS I DO MY MY RODS AND REELS AND DECK SHOES....I CLEAN AND STORE....I MANICURE MY LURES AND NORMALLY REBUILD ALL SEA WITCHES....THESE ARE THE MEAT TO DA PUDDIN BRO.....THE BIZNESS END.

TRY HANGING YOUR LURES SUSPENDED ON A PIECE OF MONEL AFTER CLEANING....

I ADMIT STORING LURES IS A STUFF PROBLEM....

So to "recover them", you can get a short section of PVC Pipe - a foot or so long by 1" or 1.5" should be fine. Thread a piece of mono or wire through the lure. Knot on the bottom. Leave a long tag on the business end. Soak the lures in warm water and slide them into the PVC.

Use the wire to suspend the lure in the pvc and to hang the tube - so that air can get in to dry them.

Might have to repeat if they are really bad.

I generally also use some Liquid Ivory soap - it helps to loosen them up as well.

Yup, I think most have done this from time to time. In the long run though, Ilander products just get snarly and crapped out after a while---- looking like a rats nest with a case of the frizzys. I've found it easier and more effective to just cut the band and hair off and retie new hair.

plastics skirts look like hell when that happens. Get some replacement skirts and re-skirt them. Possible idea is putting the lure between a heavy book. Leave the head out with a bit of space and change the position a few times. you can try bending them back one by one, but the plastics kinda has memory I think.

For the ilanders and sea switches how does the Iland silk work? The few problems I had i solved with conditioner and letting them hang for a while...
