I think you set the end of the rod in ice. It stiffens the graphite making the ZAMBOOKI ROD! the most sensitive tog pole northa the dmz.

So the trick is gently laying the lead back on the bottom?

The ice goes in the rednecks whiskey glass, which is carefully sloshed from side to side in one hand, with a cuban rolled from God knows what in the other, billowing a cloud of smoke equal to a towering inferno...Trying to see through the fog of one of the best buzzes anyone ever cared to witness long enough to describe a sabiki rod. You know the rods...They look like the barrells of the birdguns from the Mayflower. Hence the term Zambooki rod was coined. Meanwhile Seabiscuit and I are trying to keep straight faces and listen to said redneck tell us where they can be found and how effective they are in dealing mayhem to pinfish under docks far and wide. I nearly died laughing and to this day still chuckle every time I think about it. Did I mention they were in the back of a very nice sportfishing machine while we stood on the docks in awe of the swerve this guy had on?

Well that right there would be a big ass Cobia. Caught on a spinning rod.

There is an awesome story to tell about the man holding that fish. He is lucky just to be alive. I will not go there because I dont think he would like it if I did.
