Still Think'n 12/30 51Lb striper

Otter and I decided to try something different today so we waited until 0800, bought a couple dozen eels and headed North to a secret location. Left a full parking lot at Owls Creek again, running into Felix the Cat and Donna Sea at the ramps....got out the inlet and headed North through diving gannets and trolling boats but we didn't stop, oh no not today, we were on a mission, a mission for a big one......

we get to our first spot and put out a nice spread of eels only to have the Doggies find us, bad doggies, wouldn't leave us alone so we pulled lines and headed to another location I remembered from last year....we get to our new spot and put our spread out, kick back and wait for things to happen....about 15 to 20 minutes into our first drift one of the rods gets hammers, otter is on it and he fights a nice 43 incher to the boat, while I'm netting the fish the other rod starts screaming, I get the fish in the boat and pick up the other rod....BIG FISH...he was on top with his mouth open and I didn't know how big he was......

Fight the fish and get him to the boat and he's a beast, Otter does a fine job netting the fish and we put him on the deck of still think'n....tape him out to 49 inches with a belly full of something......get the two fish off the deck and INTO THE COFFIN !!!!....


reposition for another drift and start getting the occasional doggy but not bad....then we get a single in the boat, 41 inches so we're down to 1 fish left for a limit....

do a couple more drifts on the same line and get picked on by the doggies....we're down to our last eel and while Otter is playing around with school of dogfish behind teh boat the last eel left out there gets hammers, another nice 41 incher come to meet my coffin....

it's now 1130 and we're pulling lines and heading in.....run into Black Pearl with his kids and tell him where we were and told him to go get him some....hope he did well....

comiing back past Cape Henry get a call from Knot Wish'n requesting a drive by Beer drop off so we accomdated him since we were done and had plenty left....dropped off a few and headed on back to the fishing center to weigh the two biggest....

we were met by Don and Steady (who were both supposed to fish with us today but things came Up) and we brought the fish to the scales....

first fish goes 35Pounds.....that was the little one.....hoist up my 49 incher and he goes 51 POUNDS....

Great day for us....home by 1Pm and ready to have a few beers at the bargola......I think we're ready for the Frostbite Challenge.....

All fish were caught ocean side......here's some shots....

Darn Bob...that is a HOG!!! Happy New Year to you and your family, Phil and I will be up there Friday, Sat and Sun to hopefully catch one of those!

Thanks Mike...Happy New Year to you and your family also...quiet night for us, stayed home with the dogs, they get freaked out from the fireworks...

The troll bite has been slow this week but with this new batch of cold weather it should get hot again...alot of boats have been running down to Corolla to get their limits....

I've gotta work Friday but should have the Southport on the Water Saturday and Sunday...gimme a call when you get in town....Bob

Nice fish guys! Now that's some weight there! Maybe we'll see ya down there, we have a couple charters this weekend and thru out the week, if the weather holds off.

We had the same problem with those Dogs last week while we were down. From what I hear, there are still some monster schools coming down off of De. & Md.
