Still Think'n 10 Jan Striper

Yesterday was our fishing day for the Rockfish Shootout..one of the biggest striper tournaments around...over 200 team entered, most single boats entering multiple days on multiple names...

we decided to use this as a Practice tourney for the Frost Bite Challenge next weekend, fishing 2 days out of a 3 day tournament.....www.vafrostbite.com is the web site..going to be a good one..

had two of my usual pirates Steady and Otter and picked up a hitch hiker name Tuan who wanted to fish with us, so he poneyed up his portion of the entry fee and was off with Team Still Think'n for some big striper fishing....

We launched from Rudee Inlet at around 0600 and the Southport ate up the seas heading about 20 miles North where I've been catching some 40Plus pound stripers the last couple of weeks...The wind was out of the South at around 15 - 18 Kts so we had a pretty fast drift, which isn't good.....

Made a few drifts and then adjusted the spread to handle the fast drift...at around 1000 (2 hours into fishing) had our fist bite...Tuan was on the rod and wrestled a nice 46 Pound rockfish into the boat...we're thinking game on man.....

Then the Dogs made their usual visit and provided loads of entertainment for a couple of hours.....eating all our $1.80 dollar eels at a mad man's pace....

We get one more bite and put about a 20 pounder in the boat but that was it....no big fish to go with our 46Lb striper....

We did learn some valuable intel which should help us out next week for the Frost bite challenge....should be a good one...

Thanks to Tuan, Otter and Steady for fishing with me, We had a pretty good run into a 20Kt head wind with 4 - 6 seas coming home but as usual the Southport kept up comfortable and dry !......
